Vizbl at AWE 2026: The Future of Ecommerce Is Spatial Commerce

At AWE 2026 in Long Beach, California, Vizbl outlined its vision for where AR commerce is heading.

The confidence problem

Alex Otwell, Vizbl Head of Sales Alex Otwell, delivered a talk titled "The Future of Ecommerce Is Spatial Commerce" — where he argued that the next major shift in commerce is less about technology and more about buyer confidence.

"Most online purchases don't die because people dislike the product," Otwell said. "They die because people are uncertain. Will it fit? Will it look right? Will it work in my space?"

More photos, more videos, more reviews, and now AI-generated room scenes — none of it answers one of the questions that matters most to buyers: What will this look like in my space?

AR can answer that question — but only if it's simple enough to deploy at scale: across hundreds of products, without a dedicated engineering team, without months of custom development. That's what Vizbl is built for: the full infrastructure stack, so retailers focus on their catalog, not the technology behind it.

Hands-on at the show floor

At AWE, Vizbl gave attendees hands-on access to its platform — people tried the AR experiences on their own smartphones. The demo included a live AR product catalog, real-time material and color configuration, and an iPad-based sales tool for showrooms and field teams. No special hardware required.

The response backed up what Otwell argued from the stage: people weren't just impressed by the technology. They were impressed by the practical value it delivers.

What spatial commerce actually means

Spatial commerce isn’t limited to product pages. Vizbl is built for wherever purchase decisions happen — e-commerce sites, showrooms, dealer networks, and field sales conversations.

The next generation of e-commerce leaders won’t win on product alone. They’ll win by giving buyers more confidence. That is where spatial commerce creates value.
