Changing model geometry in the 3D editor
Move, rotate and scale the parts of a model, or add new ones, in the 3D editor.
You can change the geometry of any model — for example, if its dimensions aren’t accurate enough or your product range has changed.
Geometry is shared by all variants of a model. If you move or resize a mesh in one variant, the change shows up in all the others. Variants can only differ in color and materials.
Geometry changes also affect integrations that are already on your site. To keep them as they are, download the model, upload it again and edit the copy.
If you need variants with different geometry, contact us and our sales team will get back to you.
Opening the 3D editor
1. In your Core AR dashboard, open Model library, pick a model and click Open in 3D editor.
The meshes are listed on the left — they’re the parts the model is made of. A model can have one or several, depending on the file you uploaded.
You can edit meshes one at a time or several at once:
- To select one mesh, click it in the list.
- To select several, hold Shift and click the ones you need.
- To select all meshes and edit the whole model, click
next to + in the mesh list. This button appears when a model has three or more meshes.
You can also add a missing mesh. Click + in the mesh list and choose a model file on your computer — all its meshes are added to the current model. The supported formats are the same as for a regular model upload.
Like geometry changes, new meshes are added to all variants automatically.
Geometry tools
The editor has three geometry tools: move, rotate and scale.
Move — moves the selected mesh:
Rotate — turns the selected mesh:
Scale — makes the mesh bigger or smaller:
You can also enter exact values in the X, Y and Z fields to the right of the tools.
Next to the fields, the Global / Local switch sets what the change is relative to: Global uses the axes of the 3D scene, Local uses the mesh’s own axes.
Below the model, the Grid switch turns the floor grid on and off. Dimensions shows the model’s width, height and depth in centimeters.
Click Save changes in the top-left corner. There’s no autosave, so remember to save before you leave the editor.
